I "risk it" in the hot weather. Its your decision as to weather or not you feel comfortable about your riding ability. If you respect the road your chanses are good. Everyone crashes eventually though so be careful. I just rode 11,000 miles in 2 days wearing just and undershirt (aka wifebeater) and a half shell that serves only to fool the cops into thinking i'm wearing a helmet. If you've never has a real crash I'd say keep the leather on, if not and you know what can happen to you, then take it off. Hell take it all off it feels great.
